Why such Radical changes?

September 13, 2016, Day 13 of the Vlog Challenge

As I was driving to pick up my boys from daycare, on this cool September day, I was thinking about lifestyle changes. Why do we always start with the Radical changes? Why do we stop eating carbs altogether to lose weight? Why do we stop smoking cold turkey? We try to make these radical changes but the problem is they never really stick. Before we know it were right back to our starting weight.

My challenge for you today is to start small. Instead of starting a radical change start with a small goal and focus on that. When you focus on that small goal week after week. Month after month then before you know it you’ve lost 100 pounds or you haven’t smoked in weeks. Focus on the small goals and then the radical change happens. See you tomorrow.

Find the Zing! in your life…

September 12, 2016, Day 12 of the Vlog Challenge

Literally just got done with the workout before I shot the video. That idea came to me and I didn’t want to lose it. We do the same movements and workouts each week. Well, the workout I just did was spicy! That got me thinking. Do you find yourself going just plug and chugging through life? Do you find yourself just going through the motions day to day and week to week? Then you need to find some Zing! in your life or better yet find the Zing! that already exists. We are already too busy to add something to our lives to spice it up.

What we need to do is find or recognize the Zing! we already have in our life. Think about it like this. What gives the Zing! to  Pico de gallo? You have tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, cilantro, and lime. Most people would say the jalapenos are what give it Zing! but I think it’s the lime. That’s my challenge for you today. Find the Zing! that already exists. Find your lime. Once you do life will be that much more enjoyable. See you tomorrow.

Don’t blame the Stump…

September 11, 2016, Day 11 Vlog Challenge

Picture this, you’re walking through a big beautiful forest. The birds are chirping. The smell of the evergreens engulfing your nose. Then bam it happens, you trip over a Stump. In that moment all you can do is think about is who the heck would cut down a beautiful tree? Instead of thinking of the negative, why not think about the positive? That beautiful tree became a roof over someone’s head. That tree became the warmth in someone’s home.

That’s my challenge for you today. When you trip over that stump try to find the positive in your situation instead of the negative.

On a side note, it’s been 15 years since the towers fell. I want everyone to take a moment and reflect. Remember those who lost their lives. Remember those firefighters and policeman who lost their lives trying to save others. Remember when you’re running out of the burning building they’re running in. Never forget. Thank you to those who are serving home and abroad for keeping us safe. See you tomorrow.

Recharge your batteries during the week…

September 10th, 2016 Day 10 Vlog Challenge

Why do we all look for the week to Recharge our batteries? When you look forward all the time, weeks start flying by. Months and years keep flying by and before you know it, life’s over. Why can’t we recharge our batteries during the week? That’s my challenge for you today.

Find something that helps you recharge your batteries during the week. Try meditation. Make sure your workouts are consistent. Even better why not play in the park with your children. It doesn’t matter what it is. Find something that makes it feel like you’re recharging on the weekends. When you do, life will be that more enjoyable. See you tomorrow!

Build your day like your favorite Sandwich…

Check the video out on YouTube! Click here!

September 9th, 2016 Day 9/30 of my Vlog challenge.

Think about your favorite Sandwich. Can you picture all the elements? I’m sure your favorite sandwich has all your favorite meats, cheeses, veggies and you’re picturing it on your favorite bread. Now that you have the pictured in your mind. Have you ever thought about building your day like your favorite sandwich? Did I lose you there? See if you can follow along with me. Think about building your day with your favorite things in life. For example, I start my day off with journalling.

Then before I leave to go to work I kiss my family goodbye. I’m a lucky guy and get to torture clients for a living which I wouldn’t change for the world. As much fun as that is, I get to come home to my family and spend the night with them. The ciabatta bread that tops my day off is reading until I fall asleep. When you build your day with your favorite things in life you’ll enjoy your life that much more. Just like you enjoy your favorite sandwich. See you tomorrow.

Did you ever think a sack was Elegant?

Check out the video on YouTube!

Have you ever watch Cam Newton get sacked by Von Miller and think to yourself, that sack was Elegant? Yeah, I’ve never thought about it like that either. When you think about how easy Von Miller makes it look you may see where I’m going. The way he does it with flow and symmetry is elegant. When you watch Cam Newton get sacked tonight by Von Miller watch the true elegance of football.

A twinkle in your eye…

Don’t like reading? Watch it on YouTube!

You know that little Twinkle in your child’s eyes when they see you first thing when you get home from work? That twinkle in their eyes signifies their happiness. Their appreciation for you. When was the last time you felt twinkle in your eye when you gave something? More than likely you had that feeling of happiness and appreciation for something that was given to you. It was probably when you received love from your family, the new car or that big screen tv. All of those times were when you were given something.

That’s my challenge for you today. Go out there and give. Give a smile to the stranger on the street. Give your old friend a call because you’re thinking of them. Focus on giving and you’ll get that twinkle in your eye. You’ll get that same feeling of happiness. When you do that you’ll be better for it.

Don’t Plop down after your workout!

Check out the vide on YouTube, click here!

We’ve all been there. We’re bustin’ our ass in the gym. Covered in sweat with our heart rate through the roof! All you want to do when you finish that workout is to plop down on the ground. We all get it because we’ve been there. We give it everything we had and all we can do is plop on the ground. That’s the last thing you want to do! No, it has nothing to do with the physiology and everything to do with the psychology. When you plop down on the ground after bustin’ your ass you’re telling the workout that it won. Never let the workout win. Never plop down on the ground.

That’s my challenge to you today. Next time you’re bustin’ your ass, dripping in sweat, after finishing your workout. Stand tall, take deep breaths and walk it off. When you do you’ll see how easy it is to conquer anything in life. You’ll be able to crush any curve ball life throws at you.

Is it possible to have your Cake and eat it too?

Check out the video on YouTube!

The old saying “you can’t have your Cake and eat it too” has never made that much sense to me. I was taking it too literally. I always thought well if you have your cake, of course, you can eat it. Obviously, once you eat the cake you can no longer have it because it’s gone. How many times in your life does this cliche apply? How many times in life do you want it both ways but you have to choose one? Why can’t you have it both ways?

Don’t get me wrong, in most life situations having it both ways is either unethical or most likely wrong. For example, lifting max weight in the gym and training for a half-marathon is having your cake and eating it too. I’m not advocating for that because I blew out my back doing it. Are there other life situations where it would be ok to have it both ways?

I’m sure you’re listing a bunch of examples in your head right now. Let’s be honest with ourselves. Let’s come back to reality. We tell ourselves we can do it all. We tell ourselves we can have the cake and eat it too.  That’s not really what happens. We’re not good at multitasking. That’s why this proverb is a cliche. Do you see it? No matter what we tell ourselves we can’t have it both ways. That’s my challenge for you today. Put the cake down and focus on one thing. Focus on what matters most today. Stop trying to figure out how you can eat it and have it. Once you stop you’ll see the true point of the proverb. Once you’re focused on the little things. The most important things. Life will feel exactly how it’s supposed to feel.

How often does a lunar Eclipse happen in your life…?

Check out the video on YouTube!

A lunar Eclipse is where the moon passes through the Earth’s shadow but you knew that already. The real question is, how often does a lunar eclipse happen in your life? More specifically, how often does it feel like you’re just passing through life from one shadow to the next? Have you ever thought about it like that?

Life’s about living. It’s about going out, getting what you want and not sitting back in the shadows. With that said, sometimes it feels like there’s nothing you can do. Being in the shadows can make you feel helpless. Although, when you break it down the moon does shine every night and it’s undeterred by being in the Earth’s shadow every once in a while. That’s the takeaway. Sometimes in life, we feel like we’re always in the shadows, but before you know it you’re back in the sun. So, the next time you feel like you’re being Eclipsed just stop, take a moment and wait for the sun to shine on you again. Just like the lunar Eclipse your time to shine will be here before you know it. That’s my challenge to you. Stay determined. Stay focused. Even if you feel like you’re forgotten in the shadows your time will come. Whatever struggles you may be facing will pass just like a lunar Eclipse.
